Iran’s Nuclear Talks with European Powers to Be Held in Geneva

Nuclear talks between Iran and Britain, France, and Germany are scheduled for Tuesday in Geneva, Iranian state media reported.

“Iran and the three European parties to the 2015 nuclear deal, along with the European Union, will hold a new round of talks at the level of deputy foreign ministers in Geneva on Tuesday,” state television announced on Monday.

This will mark the second meeting since Iran’s 12-day conflict with Israel in mid-June, during which the United States carried out strikes on Tehran’s nuclear facilities. The previous round of talks took place in Istanbul on July 25.

The meeting follows Iran’s suspension of cooperation with the United Nations nuclear watchdog, citing the agency’s failure to condemn Israeli and U.S. strikes on its nuclear facilities during the war.

The unprecedented Israeli bombardment, followed by Iranian retaliation during the 12-day conflict, derailed Tehran’s nuclear negotiations with Washington.
